Health and medical care are fundamental human rights and indispensable values for the development and self-determination of peoples.
That is why we support, financially and through the search for goods and expertise, Lacor Hospital in Uganda, one of the largest nonprofit hospitals in equatorial Africa, a concrete hope of healing for millions of people.
We feel it is our responsibility to continue the work of the hospital’s founders, Piero Corti and Lucille Teasdale, to enable the people of Uganda to be protagonists in their country’s health, social and economic challenges.
A world in which the best possible care is provided, to the greatest number of people and at the lowest cost.
This forward-looking vision anticipates the current principle of appropriate medicine that responds to the needs and priorities of the local context.
“To provide the best possible care, to the greatest number of people, at the lowest cost and to train the next generation of health care providers.”
This has been the vision of Piero Corti and Lucille Teasdale since the 1960s.
The Piero and Lucille Corti ETS Foundation has embraced this vision and is entirely dedicated to ensuring that Lacor Hospital can continue to:
The right to health, education and self-determination, social justice, efficiency, effectiveness, sharing, transparency, integrity, dedication.
These are the values that have inspired and guided us since our establishment.
