The Piero and Lucille Corti ETS Foundation (“Foundation”) was established in 1993 with the statutory purpose of contributing to the support and operation of St. Mary’s Hospital – or Lacor Hospital – in Gulu, Uganda.
Anyone who supports our effort and helps in our mission for Lacor Hospital is valuable to us, as are the personal data they have communicated to us:
- by visiting our website fondazionecorti.it (“website”) or
- by contacting our offices through any channel (electronic, telephone, postal, etc.).
The Foundation, as the Data Controller, guarantees and constantly ensures that your personal data is always treated in compliance with the provisions of the EU Regulation 2016/679 (“GDPR”) on data protection.
With this notice, we illustrate how we collect, use, disclose, store, and possibly transfer your personal data.

- a contract (if you are, for example, a supplier to our Foundation or purchase from us through our e-commerce platform or during events, campaigns, or other charitable initiatives);
- a legal obligation (when our Foundation is obliged to specific obligations under the law);
- a legitimate interest of the Foundation, in charitable campaigns, events, or direct marketing activities aimed at fundraising for Lacor Hospital. These activities are carried out only in relation to our statutory purpose and always taking into account the necessary balance between our interest and your rights and freedoms, ensuring, in any case, the possibility of easy unsubscribing from our services (so-called opt-out).
When the communication of your personal data constitutes a legal obligation and/or a contractual obligation or a necessary requirement for the conclusion and execution of the commitments made by our Foundation, the failure to provide your data could result in the Foundation being unable to follow up on your requests.
C. Protection of your data and recipients thereof
Your personal data is processed by our specifically authorized and trained staff, exclusively for the purposes for which your data was collected.
The Foundation adopts suitable and adequate technical and organizational measures, as prescribed by the GDPR, to ensure the security of your personal data, protecting them from loss, theft, and/or misuse, as well as unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and/or destruction, both voluntary and accidental.
Your personal data is stored exclusively at our Foundation and may be transmitted to third parties solely to protect us against the risk of data loss (cloud backup service), for the processing of accounting and tax documentation strictly necessary for the realization of our charitable activities or to send you information about our activities by mail.
In any case, the providers we have chosen for these activities offer the same guarantees of security and legality of processing that our Foundation guarantees you.
In some cases, our Foundation may also be obliged to transmit your personal data, in whole or in part, to third parties due to unavoidable legal obligations.
D. Transfer of data to third countries
The Foundation does not transfer your data to third countries or international organizations without your explicit consent.
E. Data retention period
Your personal data is kept only to the extent strictly necessary to achieve the purposes for which it was collected and, as far as our fundraising activities are concerned, only as long as your interest in supporting us or being our donors persists.
In some cases, the Foundation may, however, keep your data even after this period, to the extent strictly necessary and indispensable for issuing certificates and/or documents that may be requested by individuals or public entities, for the achievement of other purposes for which the data was collected or to allow our Foundation to exercise and/or assert a right or defend itself in court.
In any case, your data will not be stored beyond the usual prescription periods provided by law.
F. Rights of the data subject
In relation to your personal data, it is, in any case, your right to exercise the following rights:
- right of access to personal data; right to obtain their rectification or erasure or the restriction of processing concerning them;
- right to object to processing;
- where applicable, the right to data portability for electronic data only.
In relation to data for which the legal basis for processing is your consent, you have the right to withdraw such consent at any time, without prejudice to the lawfulness of processing carried out by the Foundation based on the consent provided by you before the withdrawal.
G. Complaint
You also have the right, under the conditions provided, to lodge a complaint with the territorially competent supervisory authority, as identified by Articles 3, 55, and 56 of the GDPR.
